Primo Marella Gallery is pleased to present “Echoes of Africa,” an exhibition entirely dedicated to contemporary African art, curated by Fondazione Golinelli and held in the Opificio spaces.
Echoes of Africa brings together, among other artists, Jano Januario, Joël Andrianomearisoa, Amani Bodo, Abdoulaye Konaté, Samuel Nnorom, Cameron Platter and Soly Cissé. These artists have either been exhibited at Primo Marella Gallery or, as in the case of Joël Andrianomearisoa, Amani Bodo, Abdoulaye Konaté and Samuel Nnorom, are currently represented by the gallery and represent one of its most prominent names.
The main themes on which this exhibition is structured are identity, memory, spirituality, migration and sensitivity. The works also demonstrate a common focus on salvaged materials and their innovative reuse, traditional craft techniques and cultural symbolism.
Echoes of Africa is an exhibition that offers a dialogue between tradition and modernity, local and global.
