PITTURA ANALITICA
Ieri e Oggi
Curated by Alberto Fiz
Pittura Analitica Ieri e Oggi is an important exhibition project curated by Alberto Fiz which is held at Primo Marella Gallery in Milan during EXPO2015. The exhibition aims to analize one of the most important European artistic experience of the last century thanks to two different exhibitions. The first one - from June, 11th to September, 13rd - investigates Pittura Analitica of the 70s, while the second one - from September, 23rd to October, 26th - presents how the movement has developed its language since the 2000. The last chapter of the project is going to be hosted from Primae Noctis Art Gallery in Lugano from November, 26th 2015 to January, 12th 2016.
These exhibitions are a unique opportunity to reread (read under a new/an updated light) in an exhaustive manner an artistic experience that is still surprisingly dynamic, even after 40 years from its birth.
The show chooses a new way to approach Pittura Analitica: both new works and historical ones has been put together in order to stress their exhisiting continuity. That also let the public reflect on the transformations born in a sphere characterized by linguistic and semantic coherence.
Pittura Analitica is a break movement defenitly able to take its autonomy against Minimalism and Arte Povera, as well as against the expressionistic and materic research. The investigation is based on a constant dialectic ambiguity, in which the line made by the paint is recovered in its radicalism and autonomy inside a contest where an artwork is first of all a reflection on its nature, on its history and on its vicissitudes. All that is obtained through an experimental process that directly involves media and materials.
The doctrinal consistency of other movements of the Seventies is deeply questioned by Pittura Analitica, that because of its inherent characteristics, very unorthodox, appears today as a one of the most influent experience, especially when compared to a fluid and fragmented contemporaneity. Indeed it is not a casual fact that this artistic current has had ample reflections all across Europe, especially in Germany and France. In this review Primo Marella Gallery in cooperation with the curator Alberto Fiz analyze the major Italian protagonists of this movement that are still active today (with the expection of Paolo Cotani, who died in 2011).
The presented artists are: Enzo Cacciola, Vincenzo Cecchini, Paolo Cotani, Marco Gastini, Giorgio Griffa, Riccardo Guarneri, Elio Marchegiani, Paolo Masi, Carmengloria Morales, Claudio Olivieri, Pino Pinelli, Claudio Verna, Gianfranco Zappettini.
